Egal Shidad: Stories for Somali Health (English Subtitles)

In this 1-hour program Somali producer Mukhtar Gaaddasaar takes his audience on a journey to learn about mental health that includes storytelling, personal opinions, historical accounts of traditional ceremonies, guidance from an Imam, and valuable insight from two mental health professionals experienced in working with Somalis.

Egal Shidad, a Somali folk lore character, comes to life as a modern Somali suffering from depression to demonstrate how a family can confront mental illness and begin working together for healing.
