WARNING: This video contains minor spoilers to the game, such as names of characters, the boss, and the music. I do not spoil any FMVs or elements of the plot in this video.

Welcome to my first HD video... I hope. This video is to test out how well I can record from my PS3 with the Hauppauge HD PVR and render the video in mp4 format. Theoretically, it should be 720p, because that's how I recorded it. However, I've never done this before, so I don't know how well YouTube will encode it. It may take them awhile to fully process the video and for the 720p option to show up. Let me know how you like the video and audio quality. If it seems to work well enough for most of you, it is highly likely that I would make FF13 my next main LP after Lufia.

Unlike how I've recorded every other video I've made, I recorded my commentary separate from the game recording, using Audacity at the same time as the Hauppauge recorder. This should significantly increase the game's audio quality, since it is being recorded directly from the source, as opposed to being picked up by my microphone from the speaker in the background. I do have a few questions about future recordings.

1) How can I sync the commentary with the video better? Right now, I just kind of threw them together. At most, they might be off by 0.5 seconds of each other, but I'd like to perfect it.

2) Is it possible to import .m2ts files into Sony Vegas Movie Studio and render the videos in .mp4 format? I made this video with a trial version of Sony Vegas Pro, which normally costs $600, because Movie Studio doesn't do everything I need here.

Thanks to everyone on my forums for your support and help in making this video possible. Special thanks to Captain Planet (yes, THE Captain Planet... no, no, just kidding) for initially suggesting the Hauppage HD PVR that I eventually bought and used for this recording.

Thank you for watching!

  • @dragonslayer98767:

    Lol, British.

Someone doesn't know their accents, Fang has an Australian one.

  • @HCBailly I typically used Fang, Sazh, and Hope almost exclusively. Those really gave me all the roles I needed. I found Synergists to be incredibly useful in nearly all battles, and Fang gave me access to Saboteur and Sentinel. Hope is an incredible damage dealer and medic. Lightning was cool, but had lower stats than Fang and inferior roles.

The only disadvantage of a Fang-Sazh-Hope party is that you don't get access to the Tri-Disaster paradigm, but that's not a huge loss.

  • @drunyon214 You cant switch out lightning till after the boss fight.

  • @ElenaG08 its gameplay is really lack luster in my opinion...running down a hallway to trigger a cut scene seems to be all this game is...and the combat is really boring and doesnt require alot of thinking

  • Of course, this boss is my least favorite boss.

  • came back to watch this, just to see the difference between your previous fight with him and the one you did in the lp. Heaven and earth, worlds apart lol

  • @HCBailly You probably already know this, but if you get a low battle rating, you have a higher chance of getting a shroud drop. I've seen your LP pop up as the featured video on my FF13 LP, so you've probably done a bit more research.

  • @VicAusTaxiTruckie He's already LP'ing it at this point =P

  • @Xylophagomorpha FF13 would be a good game, if it had something more to the gameplay than walking down a linear corridor and if you could interract with the world, do some free roaming and sidequests that would make you involved. Avatar did something right and it was making people love Pandora.

Without these things, it's just run down a road, fight, run some more, cutscene, more running. It's very boring and as much as i like the visual style, FF13 lacks proper writing and game design.

  • Oh please LP FF13, i'm not playin it with out you~! >.<

  • How come I looked at lightning as soon as he said sit on your ass
