I made a short video to help other homeowners like myself lay a carpet runner on stairs. I could not find any other useful videos on the net so I figured I would make one as I went along. I am not a pro and there are probably some better techniques out there but I hope this helps out do-it-yourselfers. If you have a better way post a video do not leave a smart ass comment. Thanks.

  • Thanks so much!!!! Going to be installing my rubber today!!!

  • @JRESHOW There's the spirit! Go have a ball with your Rubbers...

  • After watching this video last night I went to Lowes to pick up the material that was suggested.....and I swear on my honor that as I was leaving the flooring department 2 Lowes associates and customer was watching this very video to insure they was leading the customer right on how to install a runner on his stairs.......Good job man!

  • @1600mlktd It's an Internet Sensastion and "On your Honor" I believe you. I never thought laying a stair runner would be so popular..

  • You didn't cap the ends?

  • @solobackpacking I am spearheading a national movement against "capping the ends" The words"Capping & Ends" are never uttered in my house.

  • @chochobreaker1 Apparently you did not read the header "If you have a better way, post a video do not leave a smart ass comment asshole"

  • @mabraham1 i have some great advice for you, say you have 12 steps, a easy way to figure the total length

to do those 12 steps is easy, just take the number of steps you have and divide that number in half, then once you do that add those two numbers together, so 12 steps would take 18 linear feet to do, ok say you only want to do six steps, half of six is three six plus three is 9 linear feet to do six steps etc..., also start from the bottom and work your way up and rent a knee kicker.

  • @whyareyou221 Oh I can go top to bottom buddy!

  • You are right about comments. You did take the time to make a vid. Hey you got the job done. Good on you. You saved $100-$250. As a pro I start from the bottom. You measure equal distances on each side for each step from the wall or posts. You do not need those wooden tach srtips for a RUNNER. but its ok. If you can you use thinner pad as to keep the gap on the sides minmal,Visually. I use an electric staple gun , but any staple gun( longer staples) or nail will do..& I just may make some vids.

  • @wtfman8787 i don't know. I doubt the arrow stapler will work. Also instead of starting from the top(as i did) start from the bottom. I started from the top b/c I wanted the piping along the edges to butt up against the stairs perfectly at the top step.

  • I am trying to do this same project at home. I noticed the pneumatic nail/staple gun you used in the video was not featured in the "tools needed" section. All I have is an Arrow T50 staple gun with 5/16" staples. Do I need a "power" nail or staple gun if I am doing Hollywood style?
