@BigD1116 you can look at it that way, but another way to look at it is this...we beat our arch rival (Bama) by 8. OU beat their instate rival (OSU) by 3, and USC beat their arch rival (UCLA) by 5...ironically they beat their arch rivals by the same COMBINED margin by which we beat ours (8 pts).
Further, according to the NCAA's final strength of schedule stats we had a top 5 SOS that year...neither of them finished in the top 10. By any objective standard we should have had a shot..

I was at this game. I live in Georgia and now I'm going to Auburn. I can remember how excited I was to go back to school and rub it in all my friends' faces!

the past 5 years have proven how crazy it was that Auburn didn't get a chance to play for the title. It should be six in a row right now.

when it was 24-0 they still had a chance to come back ;D

1:00 I'd like to introduce you to a friend of mine.

The most impressive part of this game was how Wallace our tight end completely handled david pollack.

We were 2 in a couple minor polls, but Oklahoma won impressively when we just beat Bama.
-
Why were we number 2 that week and did not remain number 2?

its a running spread. We run way more than pass still.
BCS is shit. Auburn goes undefeated an not even a chance to go to the title game, and a few years ago LSU LOSES 2 GAMES and STILL gets to go AND are the national champs... something is very wrong here

Ya we were had the best run, it shows the crappyness of the BCS...to go undeafeated in the tuffest confrense in college football, and sill have no crack at a title is downright wrong.
