"Evening Sun & Rock Me" is a track from the album "Johnson! Where Did You Get That Sound?" (L+R label, 1983) performed by Nat Riddles (vocals and blues harp) and Larry Johnson (guitar). Just like their album "Basin' Free" (Spivey label, 1983) this one is also hard to find.

I digitized it and hope you enjoy this fine piece of history. Non-profit, only trying to draw some more attention to Nat Riddles. Just to remember him.

  • I have Basin Free it's a great album.

  • @lovelyjubbaly Basin Free is one of the best albums I own too!

  • I love this song!!. Great harp and very easy on the ears. Anybody know the key of the song?

  • @meblaw1 I guess E♭ (harp key probably A♭).

  • Thanks for posting. More people should know about Nat. He did record another record on the Spivey label; it's called "Nat Riddles: the Art of Nat Riddles." And Adam has some live stuff of Nat and Me in the Street in NYC, recorded in '85 available as a download on his Modern Blues Harmonica site. It pains me to think that Nat is not around to see how much people love his music.

  • Thanks for replying, mr. Hilbert. It is really a great honour -- you responding to one of my uploads. I agree that Nat's music should be spread, because it's too good to be forgotten.

I know about Nat's solo album, and I'm still looking for this record "The Art(istry) of Nat Riddles", but untill now I couldn't find it anywhere. Sadly enough...

  • Beautiful relaxed harp playing, vocals and guitar great too!

  • @SwampBluesTed. Please share some more cuts. I have been floored by this guy! Very disappointed by his early loss.

  • Great,

Thanks for posting this song. I hear about Nat by Adam Gussow.

Now I know what he was talking about.

  • I have been hearing about Nat from Adam Gussow of course, but just now got around to listening to him. WOW! What a genius. And not only that, the players from that era and before seemed to be having a great deal of fun, as though it were as natural as life itself, which, of course, it was and hopefully always will be. Thank you so much for bringing this wonderful musician to our attention. I started listening to blues harp back in 1969 (Sonny Terry, etc.)

    Again, can't thank you enough.

  • Thanks for introducing me to Nat Riddles.....rated 5

  • Great song and excellent sound !
