In this first installment of the Viewfinders' portrait photography series, photographer Erika Larsen http://www.erikalarsenphoto.com/ investigates our relationship to the cycle of life and death by documenting hunters in action. Her most recent project, picked up and published by Field and Stream ( http://www.fieldandstream.com/ ), presents a moving and sometimes shocking look into Americas youngest generation of hunters. Watch Erika's unique experiences photographing in the field.

  • @princedawson Dick! She just got out of fucking cancer treatment. How stupid can people get in this world.

  • Even after getting her leg amputated she has the odacity to go out and take another life?? How sickening can people get in this world. And Erika, its a shame that you have a wonderful talent of portrait photography and you seem to cherish the idea of taking pictures of young children with blood stained knives in their small hands cutting a dead animal's flesh out? There is so much more to photography as an art form. Guess when people are going to realise that hunting is sickening!

  • is this good photography ?

  • NOT PHOTOGRAPHY AT ALL

  • these images are ment to understand these people, it does mean she goes out and hunt, and some families traditionally hunt, its not like they love killing things just for the sake of killing things. I hate hunting as well, but this is about photography and how she uses images to understand people, not about hunting about the person

  • @TimothyCompleteify I thought it is a photo/video-Journalism competition, so if this is the case then in my book there is no that this will even get close to any photography but as just a snapshot of another Drooling Ill Minded Person.

  • @TimothyCompleteify Yes Timothy, I can See & Read the Pleasure in THE KILLINGS that you Sick People have, probably you feel the Out-most Orgasm 1st by Murdering Animals, like Murdering the Buffalo & Tigers & a bunch of other poor animals!

I can see this sickening pleasure that you and a like have in your eyes like many other Murderers who love to kill people, just to feel the power over the weak. But to give an award for being sick (or as you call it making a living) this is not the place,

  • @TimothyCompleteify : So you can pre-assume that im a non-vegetarian and that I only eat mutton? Wow! Now thats something thats not so happening in my life Timothy ;)

  • @dxpsycho I know these people are so damn stupid sit and eat meat that was killed by others. They probably don't know how to get their own meat or know where it comes from besides saying the wild or the farm. At least the animal they kill weren't born and raised by the thousands knowing they will be killed once they mature. these people are sick. they talk down on the food they eat.

  • @jvaughn94 and yet you speak of those who work so hard to get what they eat when you just buy your food at the grocery store and let others do your killing. how sickening.

  • @sensartia you're wrong, if you really can't see any emotions then you're just being ignorant and shouldn't be able to judge others work. you can see the vacant look in the people's eyes because the hunt is over. these are people who live from hunting and not just buy meat off the market and and sit back in their house and bicker on and on about others hard work.

  • @princedawson I know what you mean, humans and animals are living creatures nonetheless, but a lion can't eat grass to survive can it? if they take hunting as a hobby and fun then yeah that's sickening. but for a coward who has their meat butchered at a shop shouldn't have much of a say in this. You let others do the killing for you, how much more sickening is that?
