A rather old promotion trailer for the DVD based on the Larp. This event was one of the first "large-scale" German Larp gatherings - the other one, even earlier, was the Drachenfest in 2001. New Order took place June 13-15 and attracted almost 2000 people.

  • So much arguing all the time. I guess, the problem is that in the US it´s more common than in Europe to look down upon people who are interested in fantasy related stuff. I hope this will change within the next few years. And this goes out to the people who think dressing as warriors and fighting with swords is ridiculous: have you ever heard of paintball? Same thing, army style. Strangely, noone calls those guys nerds.

  • in reality, they're envious that some ppl have the imagination to live out fantasies that others cannot/doesn't dare. you guys just do what you guys do best. don't let anyone else tell you what you CAN and CANNOT do.

it's true that to the untrained eye, it might look wiered, but imo , being able to do this well is a strenghtener of character.

Also it's social, AND tons upon tons of good fun.

let all the trollers and whiners go their way, and you guys keep it up :) I love it.

  • .. continued.. i think that they are planning ren-faire type events there and they do historical educational tours and such on site. Should be able to google it and find it pretty fast... maybe you can go there and do some larping too :0

  • And to those in the US who may be interested, there's a true-to-life replica of a French castle being built in Missouri near Branson area .. they have a website, but not sure what it is... if you're interested, they are building it by historically correct method and with ancient tools and crafts; have people dressed in historicaly accurate clothing and a market there true to the medieval period. Volunteers welcome-i think some are paid.Apparently it'll take them 40 years to build it. i think th

  • maybe this is not a correct assumption, but as a quick observation to provoke further thought, perhaps the case of Larp being a much more serious event in Europe is because 'history' there is much more tangible so to speak.. if you're dreaming of the medieval. Do you see? there are more real historical battle grounds, castles, cathedrals etc etc than you could possibly hope to see in a lifetime. I think to them, that history runs very deep, and in a different way sometimes than to people inUSA

  • I've never larped but wouldn't mind doing so.. the more I look into it... seems there's a lot of work and energy that goes into simply preparing it.. similar to a movie or broadway play i guess. ^.^ Maybe I'm wrong. As a dancer, history buff and beginning seamstress of period clothing, I can only say that those who can truly pull off something like this ... have only earned praise.

  • The people disliking this really need to sort out their priorities, to be honest I reckon the haters just do not have the stones to do this sort of thing, I mean, maybe they use latex weaponry, it still bloody hurts, (If you swing it right.. ) But no, can't you all just Live and Let Live?

  • @MrMoosticles

Not at all sire, *twirls moustache*

  • @phantombrickthrower

As one of those 'bastards' I thank you sir. XD *tips hat*

  • We are tryign to get a LARP that is remotly presentable, I mean, We are goign to get a LARP group goign that actually is worht being in, We are doing our best to keep it a realistically "Fantastical" What I mean is, A fantasy that is so realistic its hard to figure out if its fake. A sort of european LARP in my eyes, They are in fact the wottcakes of LARP. Its goign to be tough getting good roots because, we are a USA LARP. But we will do our best.

  • @Graftin2006 saftey issues with the system organisers. and also, have you ever been hit with a real sword, chainmail or no, its a heavy metal club essentially. you will be bruised.

plus the latex sword i have is very solid and pretty weighty. you dont have to suspend your belief nearly as much as youd think. :)

  • @Graftin2006

I do practice for real with real steel swords, crafted by Paul Binns. I train WMA both one and two handed, and have been doing so for 6 years now. I haven't got the imagination to do LARP, so it's not for me. I just stick to the hard part of swordsparring, :)
