Hey, rlapham. Obviously, you are not listening. All of the areas the oil companies are told they can drill ... HAVE NO OIL! Sure! Drill in my back yard! THERE IS NO OIL THERE! We have to go where the oil is to get it.

If you knew anything about profit and loss, you would sing a different tune. Don't you know they make less than a dollar profit for every BARREL of oil they refine?

You are right, but that profit is the manufacturers profit, they have the whosale and retail profits also...... What happened to the mom and pop stations? The oil companies own them. WAKE UP!!

Where do you live? In my 'neck of the woods' there are 'mom and pop' stations everywhere. Sure, there are chains. But the local Exxon, the local Shell, the local Texaco, and on and on, are OWNED by our LOCAL friends and acquaintances. They get their gas from the oil company. They make a profit. We still have enterpreneurs here.

I have lived in California and Georgia and now Missouri and I do not see any Mom and Pop stations any more. They are virtually non-existent.

Read my posts and call your congressmen and tell them you'll vote their asses out if they don't get it right. It's NOT DRILLING OR EXPLORATION as much as building new refineries. Each oil refinery takes over four years to get up and running. NO NEW ONES are on the drawing board as of today-what does that tell you? It's more about price control than anything else. I drive a Prius. As soon as lithium battery tech is available I will drive an all electric car or a plug-in hybrid.

Well, let the federal government socialize the oil industry, as Maxine Waters says, and see what kind of prices you'll pay then. I promise you it won't be cheaper. When has the government EVER done anything more efficiently and at less cost than the private sector? The solution is to get the damn government off our backs and out of our wallets. It's not bashing oil companies or demonizing CEO's.

Here is another pisser, Alaskan oil is required to go to American Refineries. That meets the Alaska Pipeline law of 1973. Anyone can buy it now and does, 3/4 of it goes over-seas.

We have done our part/ Americans have reduced demand by 25%. Their profits are coming from selling American Oil to Foreigners at 120-150 a barrel. Only cost

33 to get it out of the ground.
