@MeJonB listen... different cultures are basically different groups of people who have different customs and different values. From a European perspective perhaps they weren't using the land to it's potential, But the Native people had been subsisting sustainably here for millenia. different values affect how someone exploits their environment. I'm sure that to them parking lots and strip malls are not using the land to it's potential. They liked the abundance of fish, game, 600yr old trees.

First of all lets pretend for the sake of your argument that it isn't inherently racist to brand an entire people as "warlike." if there was a "warlike" Indian nation, it was the Iroquois. The deciding factor was a dogmatic ideology of racial superiority, a Prostelytizing religion, a concept of permanent individual land ownership that did not exist for the Natives, and most importantly Lies.
