1988 Lotus Esprit Turbo

Stock 3" exhaust with stock catalytic converter and no muffler.

Lotus Esprit are a fantastic car but this sounds a little sick mate, something doesnt sound right at all

Yeah, if you're talking about the excessive backfiring, I fixed it shortly after posting the video. The TPS was not adjusted correctly. Other than that, there was a minor leak at one of the exhaust mounting bolt welds that caused it to sound a little "fluttering". I'm thinking of putting a high-flow cat (like from Random Tachnologies) on it this Winter, but still haven't made up my mind.

Thanks, and yup, it's the 2.2 910 turbo, Bosch injection. I actually fixed the hyperactive backfiring, as well as a small exhaust leak that I found. It sounds just a tad different to the trained ear, and of course, sounds very different when coasting instead of cackling so loudly as before. I'll try to post a new version when I have the chance.

Glad to hear you got the problem sorted. I have always been a fan of lotus esprit's, just love the shape. I own a 1984 supra but highly modifed, running a 2JZ twin turbo six out of a 2004 soarer with VVti. Just over 500 HP at the wheels, actually looks a little like a lotus, to be honest toyota got lotus to design the syspension and body shape of the 84 supra. The only bad thing I've heard about lotus is they can be unreliable, lots of gearbox problems apparantly
