  • Great video! The Velocity is such an under-rated plane and it's cheap as well! I fitted a carbon rod to stop the flex and I had to have a lot of down trim on mine to make it fly level, how about yours?

  • Thanks. Re-enforced wings this weekend with carbon robs - very little flex now. If you look carefully at the trailing edge next to fuz the wing section turns up, so she's designed with 'up' built in. I angled my motor to increase down thrust but she still likes 3mm down trim. Other mods include carbon on trailing edge of control surfaces to stop flexing and a hinge next to control horn - surfaces were coming loose with just the hinge tape. Currently flying 4.5X4.1 at 50A on 4 cell. Very nice :)

  • Update: Reached 222km/h with a tail wind - measured using Doppler. Tested some more mods - pushed the CG forward about 6mm so down trim needed for level flight is now only 1 mm but she's slightly less responsive. Also, have you noticed how Velocity's tend to skip & slide on landing? I added 10mm skids on each side of the rear fuz -made it part of motor mount/rear re-inforcing. On landing they tilt the nose a bit down and add drag to make her stop faster. Much better when landing in wind. Try it.

  • standard velocity??

    or was it reinforces??

    5x5?? oder other ?

  • The Velocity has been modified by taking the fins off the wing tips and placing them closer to the fuselage thus improving stability (like the Projeti). Prop with 3 cell setup is 4.75x5.5 and 4 cell setup I use 4.75x4.75 giving me 50000 rpm and about 210km/h (at 5200 feet altitude)! I haven't reinforced the wings yet BUT as the speed increases I'm noticing serious wing flex so that's the next modification. I've also made a hole in the nose and angled the rear vent slots for improved ventilation.

  • To answer some of the queries about the motor, it's a 3800kv 45A motor. Although I'm currently running it on 3 cells it can handle 4 cells which is my next step. At the moment though, she still gives me that adrenalin rush so why change a winning combination!

  • Hi, where did you buy your motor? I have just got my Velocity :)

  • fast sucker, nice work !

  • good to know! i was gonna say there was not any way in hell you could get a plane to go that fast on 3 cells.

  • If you want to see an 'interesting' landing then check out the end of my doppler video on here of my Velocity! It did fly again but not for long.
