@casperado666 I will have to admit I was only speaking with an emotional and shallow mind when I posted my comments. I did not think of the Great Ukrainian Famine, even though I knew of its occurrence, and did not realize the lack of Slavic brotherhood. But if your so-called "brothers" abuse and harm you for so long, you would not want to consider them your family. There is also no acceptable justification for the oppression and genocide of any people.

@vraimentmaladroite  Maybe the parents of your friend didn't want her to grow up with all that bloody historical background, who knows. Ukrainians have been discriminated against or even killed (check out Golodomor) because of their nationality for ages. By the way - mainly Russians and Poles were oppressing Ukrainians, that's why don't believe in "brotherly nations" or slavic brotherhood.

So I will say I'm envious that she has real Slavic heritage, and she has no desire to explore it; I do not have that heritage, and I have actively explored my admiration of what is Slavic.
