This is a video posted by Beads for Development, an organization that promotes women's empowerment and fights poverty. Beads for Development buys beads from a women's bead-making collective in a rural village Burkina Faso, West Africa. The beads are used to make handmade necklaces and earrings which are sold in the US. This video shows me, the founder of Beads for Development, helping to grind millet in the traditional way. Beads for Development is currently helping the women's collective to earn the money to buy a grain mill, that would cut down on the physical labor that the women have to do each day.
