Thanks to the harsh winter of 1941-1942, Hitler's huge mistake of redirecting Army Group Center elements to aid Army Group South in taking Kiev in the Ukraine and the quickly deployment of battle-hardened Siberian troops experts in winter warfare; the Soviet Union did manage to keep the Germans at bay.
Of that early Soviet victory without much help from the allies I am aware of.
@Eurofighter19: Fair point I guess. But remember the Russians had no real Allied help 'til mid-1942 and still managed to beat back the Nazis from the gates of Moscow.
Kind of hard to do with superior numbers alone when your army is ILL-EQUIPPED, ILL-TRAINED and not even PROPERLY FED.
Do you care to search by what percentage did the Chinese outnumber the Japanese and yet could not repulse effectively any invasion since 1933 until the small skirmishes in the Far East escalated to a global war?
@xelvargx: That's what YOU think. Russian could've beaten the Nazis on their own. They completely outnumbered the Germans, and once they re-organised after the first winter, would've been VERY hard to stop!
@NobleKorhedron
The logistical implications were great yet the necessity of their deployment far outweighed them all.
If Moscow would have been taken in the winter of 1941-1942, the Allies would have received an important reverse on their war effort.

@Eurofighter19: Yeah, but you know HOW they were able to deploy the Siberians? Two words - Richard. Sorge.

@NobleKorhedron Not what I think at all!
I was watching a documentary on it, also on the History Channel. His commanders urged him to wait for war.

Fact remains Xelvargx. He started it in 1939....

"1939, Germany is ready for war."
To the frank, they were not. Germany would not be fully mobilised till 1942-1943. If Hitler then started the war, he would have won.
