In late October, the Los Angeles basin had its first fall storm, known as the "first flush". During the dry summer months trash builds up in culverts and storm drain areas. The first rain of fall flushes out the plastic debris and lots of vegetation and sends it seaward through a system of concrete lined rivers.
This program documents the trash stream resulting from this single weather event of about 1" of rainfall,
and illustrates human efforts to contain the debris.
