Fifteen-year-old LaShameik McPhatter is your average teenager. She likes to talk on the phone and hang out with friends, it's just that she has cerebral palsy and navigates life in a wheelchair. She is being raised by her great grandmother, her sole parent, because her mom died when she was two. She and her great grandmother were recently helped by the Blue Knights who organize Gooch's Garlic Run, the annual motorcycle race that helps children with illnesses. (Video by Mia Song)
Its been 3 years since the story was taped, this young lady must be 18 now, has the news station gone back to check up on their progress?

LaShameik is such a sweet teen! Trying to balance her want for independence and normalcy while respecting her "Mom". Most teens wouldn't think twice about that. God Bless them both. I hope the great grandmother is able to get some assistance with LaShameik's daily care as she ages. Wish I could help in some way. Is there someone I can contact?
