I made this video using a collection of photos that I took in beautiful Nova Scotia over the past year from various locations all over the province. "The Rawdon Hills" is by Canadian folk singer/song writer Stan Rogers. Although he was Ontario born (like myself), he spent summers in the Canadian Maritimes and fell in love with the beauty and rich history here and wrote about Nova Scotia in much of his music. Stan Rogers died at 33 yrs old in a plane crash, but his music is still played in pubs and celebrated as part of our Canadian heritage. I hope you all enjoy the beauty of Nova Scotia as much as I do. This is my "home sweet home", finally. ~kim

Stan died a heroes death and was confirmed by survivors of the crash as the big man with a booming voice who stood at one of the exits and called passengers to the escape...his body was found just a few steps away from the exit - it was presumed that he went into the inferno to look for stragglers and succumbed to smoke inhalation. RIP great warrior and minstrel!

Hi Kim:Thanks for posting.I'm also a transplanted Upper Canadian, living just down the road from Rawdon.Have you heard the "from Fresh Water" CD?You may recognize some of the communities mentioned.Do you visit StanFest?I was blown away to learn that his wife Ariel still responds to queries regarding merchandise on the Fogarty Cove/Cole Harbour site.

Great video, but one thing I feel should mention. Stan didn't die in a crash. His plane landed safely, but unfortunately he and 22 others succumbed to the smoke before the plane was on the ground and fresh air was available. The soot, carbon monoxide, and God only knows what other airborne chemicals came off of whatever was burning on that plane was plenty enough to do the job.
Rumour is that he was conscious long enough to help pull survivors out, but unfortunately I can't confirm that.
