  • What's Petrosian doing there? To put Karpov just on number 6 it's a big mistake.

  • According statistic, Kasparov is the best. Unless Fischer (or other players) can be a world champion, defended it, and world No.1 for 20 years, Fischer (or other players) as the greatest player is only in their fanboy's dreams and fantasies. 1. Kasparov (Legendary work ethic) 2. Carlsen (pure talent, all around player, great positional and tactician player) 3. Kramnik (Strongest positional player ever!) 4. Alekhine 5. Fischer 6. Who cares? 7. Loser 8. Loser 9. Me!! 10. Loser
  • I see the cult of Fischer lives on! I wouldn't necessarily argue with the list - only the order. Fischer never tested himself against a younger generation, unlike all the rest, and Alekhine was manifestly a lesser player than Lasker and Capablanca. Fischer should be below Kasparov and Capablanca and maybe Lasker.

  • Pretty good list... but without Tal it's imperfect!

  • perfect....but only one missing...TAL

  • @TheLasseCarlsen I doubt he would of put Morphy at 10th if this was all about patriotism. Even Fischer himself said Morphy would be the champ 'today' after he caught up on modern theory. He made a good point. Morphy was an unusual sort of chess genius who was also not monomaniacal about the game as Fischer was. Morphy built a foundation which all masters after him learned from and advanced to this day.

  • You may react to my list... But this list is for my opinion.. honorable mention-Anand,Kramnik, Topalov, Korchnoi, Geller, Carlsen(may become all time great also)....
