"From Mobile to Cloud: System-level Challenges Ahead" by Yuanyuan (YY) Zhou, Professor, Computer Science and Engineering; Qualcomm Endowed Chair in Mobile Computing; Member, Calit2 Executive Council at UCSD

We are at an interesting time to see computing moving toward the two ends of spectrum: small hand-held mobile devices and large, remote cloud services (private or public). Such a trend has created great opportunities for enabling new applications quickly and reducing costs. It also brought new challenges to network and system research. Security, robustness, management, power-efficiency, etc., all require careful consideration before it becomes mainstream. In her talk, Dr. Zhou will give a brief of overview of some of the opportunities and system/network challenges.
