OUCH!! That hurt just watching it.... Good job it was the helmet and not his head that took the damage! Would faster reactions have prevented the situation deteriorating after the initial collapse? Possibly, but it looks like the wing was still subject to severe turbulence. If it happened higher he might have been able to make a full recovery, or at least deploy the reserve. Any crash that you can walk away from is a good result, but in this case he looks extremely lucky to avoid injury.
