Recent conflicts in the Caucasus and Central Asia have taken the U.S. by surprise because this important region is often overlooked, said top U.S. experts at a panel discussion hosted by Eurasia Foundation on February 3, 2011 in Washington, D.C. Here Thomas de Waal of Carnegie Endowment for International Peace says there is a lot going on under the surface in the Caucasus that is overlooked when using the term "frozen conflicts".
