I used Adobe After Effects 7.0 to add dark clouds, lightning, falling rain, rain on the lens (and other various effects) to create the ultimate storm scene. I used Sony Vegas Movie Studio 6.0 to add the sound effects.
Basically, I found a high definition image of clouds on Google Images, and I used chroma key to take out all of the blue sky in the original footage, and I replaced it with the new clouds. I played with the colors of the clouds as well to try to make them look a bit darker, and I just made the clouds move gradually from left to right.
The lightning on the other hand was a plug-in, I believe.
eh, not too difficult. It's a lot of fun once you get the hang of it. Basically, I just watched a bunch of video tutorials off of videocopilot (dot) net, and creativecow (dot) net. It's amazing what After Effects can do.
Nicee! What did you use to add the clouds? A special plugin?
