no you dont have to dump the block unless you damaged it just a new crank kit all part stores sell them
-
wait so when you have crank walk you have to dump the block and find a new one?
-
get a 98 or 99 block, they use thrust washers and they are suposed to be better. That's out of a 5 speed, aint it?
-
you should use tightest clearnces possible

Gotta love DSM's man I really wish Chrysler & Mitsubishi would own up to this, my 7 bolt just Crank Walked & I did a 6 bolt into it. Hope that lasts for awhile.
Good luck man

Block and crank were dumped because it wore through the bearing into the thrust bearing surface.
This was a rebuilt 95 GSX block that originally spun a bearing at 180k after running 5-6 years on 20psi and a FP2544 (44lbs/min). Didn't have time to rebuild it myself so I went with a local engine builder that had rebuilt a lot of 4G63s over the years for members of CODSM/RMDSM and I thought he'd do a good job. He didn't obviously.
Rebuilt a different 7-bolt block myself and it's been good since.
