As I said under "Carnivorous Plants" the Moody Institute of Science is connected with the Moody Bible Institute, and the point of it is to promote the good Protestant fundamentalist science of "God made the eel electric because He wanted to, and that is that".

@PunchSydeiron Or religious debate in the comments of a silly video.

@TVsAdam Are you using the version of the video from archive dot org? There's a copy with better sound on youtube at watch?v=Lv_UseyJzKg
Problem is, it has an annoying watermark on it... Gotta love those people who feel the need to put their moniker on a public domain video. Screw you, Brother Hicks!

Thumbs up alone for the "Electric Feel" joke.

I wonder if you could make your own deadpan fake old black and white educational film.

I like how this guy keeps alluding to God in the short films that feature him, which we all know is ridiculous. Every scientist knows that God has no place in science, just like facts have no part within religion.

Callbacks! Fanservice! A third thing! Golly, what a great episode!
Good work, guys. Although the audio on the underlying video is pretty bad. At some points it's really difficult to make out what Dr. Moon is saying, which causes some of the jokes to fall flat since you can't tell what Adam's riffing on.

@Wes964 Thanks, Wes. I've also noticed the audio trouble and am trying to figure out a way to fix it. Unfortunately the video editing software, such as it is, that I'm using to make this magic happen, such as it is, doesn't really allow for me to to tweak the short's existing audio much. I plan to find something a little more effective for the next short, and I'll likely reupload this in the future since I'll probably want to fix it before putting it up for paid DL at Rifftrax.

@TVsAdam What software do you use? When I do riffs, I use Windows Movie Maker and/or VideoPad. They're both free (I'm broke) and they have features that let you adjust the audio for the video at least to some extent.
I actually wrote up a script for another one of these Moody Science Institute videos ("Mystery of Time"), but never recorded it. Maybe I'll do it over the summer. These videos are eminently riffable. :)

@Wes964 Adobe Audition for the audio and Windows Movie Maker for the video. I was able to clean and amplify the short's audio in Audition and mix it nicely with the riff, but Movie Maker got mad at me when I tried to add the mixed audio to the video, and stuff fell weirdly out of sync. I ended up having to add the riff over the original short in Movie Maker, then use that program's balance slider to lean the volume more toward the video - with less than stellar results.
