This is my third 'super eight' film for the Seattle Film Institute.
The Outsider is based on an H.P Lovecraft short story.
My brother wore the cloak and hood and my dad was nice enough to do the voice over.

  • @bloodrunsclear I've been sleeping almost constantly. I think it's just a cold.

Hmm... Maybe. I've never had anybody to really bounce ideas off of except Curtis, and his crazy-ass ideas rarely pan out because they're too unstable to sustain themselves.

    I'm glad you found a niche ^^

I'm sorry you haven't been in tip top shape. Have you been finding time for adequate rest? That can help.

Creative drought? Do you need some creative consultation? :)

  • @bloodrunsclear That's good! =D I hope you get the job.

I've been sick these past few days, and unfortunately this creative drought keeps persisting, but other than that I can't complain much. I joined a rap/metal band and I'm allowed to spit all the sick rhymes about necrophilia and insanity that I please. XD So that's good.

Been quite well :) Still looking for work, but hopefully I might have an interview soon.

Thanks for the concern! How have you been?

  • @bloodrunsclear Also, it's good to talk to you again. ^_^ How have you been, my friend?

  • @bloodrunsclear The cynicism that I detected comes from the fact that he's reading a glossy magazine, which would obviously strive to portray the people in them as unnaturally pretty. By him assuming he looks that way also, and being proven wrong due to his reflection, shows that the media creates an unrealistic standard of beauty for people to aspire to, and that such aspirations lead to madness.

It's not extremely cynical, but a close inspection of it reveals a subtle "fuck you" to society.

    O_o Long time no see

Um...that's a monster mask, the only one I could afford. He's supposed to be kind of undead I think.

How is it cynical? The magazine shows people (hence the title) and this fellow is not a person anymore, at least a living one. As for exact props, I couldn't afford a castle and shooting it in my library would look too chipper.

Thanks though. I appreciate your candor :)

  • I like the new direction you took with it. It's very interesting, but it does rob the story of some of it's impact. The reveal was a little cheesy. Is he an old man? How is that horrible? Although reading nothing but an old copy of People magazine might give him an unrealistic standard of normalcy, which changes the nature of the story almost entirely, possibly to something more socially relevant and(ironically in your case) more cynical towards society. I enjoyed it, though. 9/10 =)
