Jo first recorded this tune with the Pied Pipers and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in 1942 and then re-recorded it in 1963 for the benefit of "stereophonic" sound. She was one of the original Pied Pipers who got their first national exposure singing back-up vocals for Frank Sinatra with the Dorsey Orchestra. They would break away from the Dorsey band not long after Sinatra left and go out on their own securing a recording contract with Capitol Records whose music producer, Paul Weston, Jo would later marry. She was so popular with the American servicemen during WW2 that they nicknamed her G.I. Jo. Jo left the group in 1944 to pursue her solo career which lasted until 1966 at which point she semi-retired to make only one professional appearance the rest of her life, for a Frank Sinatra benefit televised in 1990.
