This is a good cover. Fuck you losers. Does every cover of an amazing song sucks? No.
I'd also like to add that Trust No One is a very good album. Last good thing Dave Navarro did.
Jane's Addiction/Red Hot Chili Peppers FTMFW.

You're being very naive. Just because something means little to you, doesn't mean it should mean little to others.
You'd be surprised by how big a difference something seemingly small can make.

... I dont like it, I think its overgrown, there's too much sound in that cover... the essential drone and minimalism of the original song is lost somewhere. I think its like making an rnb cover of smells like teen spirits. But its just my opinion, im not saying people who like it are wrong.
p.s. (i dont really like navarro, maybe thats why i dont like the song :P)

I'm sorry but I can't hear why so many think this cover is horrible

As Uncle Perry once said ''some people should die''
-
Terrible didn't like it at all!
He shouldn't have touched this beautiful peace and I usually like Dave's shit to.
What a shame

His voice is very much like Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree.

No words can describe this. It shouldn't be allowed.

No, It's the lyrics. The music is wonderful too, but it could not save my life. That's just stupid. Music is not this effective, you are the one who does not die if you decide for any reason to save your own life. The lyrics too, if he decided not to die or whatever because of either he is an idiot...There are more important things in life then to just sit around and get high. Indulging in it for an other reason aside from what you can relate to is what 13 year olds do. Even if just get high

You underestimate the power of music.
It affects different people in different ways, an it does not make you an idiot if it's your mode of escape when life seems hopeless. In some cases it has been their only mode of escape.
Don't even think of denying this - I've seen it firsthand, and I know several people who would not be here today if it wasn't for music . Obviously I can't prove that here so you're just gonna have to trust me on that one.

It's not that important to most people, I doubt it is to you, and I'm really not sure it is to me. No shame in that at all.
People find comfort in many different ways... whatever makes / keeps you happy eh.

The Velvet's were assholes, they don't care about Dave Navarro or his respect...They advocate every bit of anything subversive as they defined a very nihilistic scene...
To say that "Venus In Furs" saved your life has to be irony. Either that or he himself does not understand the lyrics, or the literature it was based on.
Maybe the song heroin would have been a little more appropriate? Still stupid, but a little less irrelevant than a song about extreme sadomasochism

A song's lyrical meaning is not all there is to a song. When I'm feeling low I often find comfort in One Hot Minute, by the Chili Peppers. It's not an uplifting album, and most of the songs lyrics are not relevant to me. I guess Navarro would've found similar comfort in the Velvets.
Let's be honest, when you listen to the original Venus In Furs, it's not the lyrics that strike you. You get lost in the music, entering a state where the words almost seem blurred. Do you not feel that way at all?
