Videoart by venezuelan composer and artist Ricardo Teruel using the Tapalata (CanLid) a musical instrument or toy made by himself with can lids (the kind used for powdered milk) played with mallets made out of balls of roll-on deodorant and clothes hangars wire. The instrument must be amplified to obtain a resonant sound.

Only freeware was used in the making of the piece: Audacity (audio recording and editing), Viena (make soundfonts to be played by the programs), VSTHost (to play the soundfonts), MuseScore and Lilypond (to make the music scores and genearte midi files to be played), Quartz-AudioMaster (midi sequencer), AVdrum (generate video sequence from the midi file), Virtualdub (edit and filter videos), The Gimp (for static images) and zs4 (video and audio montage and mix).

  • This is astounding! Wonderful precision and beauty in sound, color and movement! I watched your Tapalata Bounce first and was entranced by the film! This video demonstrates the wizardry! Such a marvelous film, Ricardo!
