@akosh33 True, but that was the whole point of the series. People who worked in these institutions eventually had to make compromises with their own values. McNulty and Freamon were screwed over by the higher ups over the vacant murders and saw it to take matters in their own hands. They thought they were doing the right thing but the wrong way.

can i just say that this season totally jumped the shark? hard to believe mcnulty and freamon would do this. during the show, they never beat or bullied suspects, never stole money, never broke the law. they just wanted to do good policework. then to go off the deep end like this? even for mcnulty - he surely knew that an illegal wiretap wouldn't stand up in court.

also, kima's whistleblowing seemed equally unlikely, given how much she respected freamon and mcnulty.

Are you guys fucking serious? What McNulty and Lester, much as I like them, were completely in the wrong, and committing seriously unethical bullshit. It was Kima who had to talk to the parents of one of the "victims" and see how they felt about their child being sexually molested while murdered. Although it was for the right reasons, they went way too fucking far manipulating people's lives, and Kima did a public service stopping it.

yea i thought kima was a piece of shit for that, i cant believe they forgave her, that was just unrealistic to me, she completly fucked both of them over ruined their lives and careers, she knew they were doing it for a good reason too, i hated her after that, i wouldnt have been able to watch her if the show went on after that without hating her.
