  • @shire2005 A cruiserweight division would have been nice, but Leon needed an intervention more than anything, much as I love that guy's unlikely career.

  • The russian fighters had better chins than the Cuban fighters. They had to have good chins. Michael was a beast at that weight class.

  • @bluemonkjd

Sure but Leon got a lot out of his talent. Had there been a cruiser weight division early in Leon's career he might have been a champ for a while there.

  • Rufat Riskiev !!!Krasavchik!!!Vseravno molodec!!!!

  • Rufat Riskiev !!!Krasavchik!!!

  • usa chant actually started here!!

  • @INTIMEFILMPRODUCTION Was it Spinks fault the other boxers didn't show? Revenge is sweet and Spinks blasted the Russian all over the ring. Just 'cause your fav lost, don't take it out on Michael who indeed went on to win the WORLD title, something Ruskiev never did and the Soviets would have loved to see him try, they knew Spinks was the better man.

  • Michael Spinks sure ended up having a more "useful" career than his brother.

  • i got this fight but the only difference is that the great Howard Cosell is doing he broadcasting.....

  • @INTIMEFILMPRODUCTION What you're saying may be true, and if so, it is either an example of bad planning or extreme misforune. But that doesn't change the fact that Spinks beat him here, and then want on to become one of the greatest fighters of all time. He was simply a terror, and unbeatable at Light Heavy, and then went on to be the first man to step up and take the Heavyweight title.
