How To Get a Windows Movie Maker Video have the "High Quality" Option Under Your YouTube Video

Step 1: Go To http://www.megaupload.com/?d=H1JP317H and download it. Then Open it.

Step 2: Install everything
and extract the VirtualDubMod Folder to your Desktop

Step 3: When You are ready to save your Windows Movie Maker video click save to my computer, type the filname and output folder you want, and click Show more choices and choose Other setting and choose DV-AVI (NTSC).

Step 4: Make a new .txt file and type in: DirectShowSource("[location of your video][filename of you video].avi") and save it as: [what ever filename you want].avs Step 5: Open the VirtualDubMod Folder and run the .exe file and drag the .avs file into it and click Video and click filters and click add and add deinterlace choose Blend fields together (best). Add resize and change it to this: New width: 480 New height: 360 Filter Mode: Lanczos3 (If you want widescreen width: 640 height: 360) Click Video and click Compression and choose x264vfw - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec and click Configure and change it to this: Multipass - 1st pass Target bitrate (kbit/s) 1000 and click Ok Click File and click Save As and save it wherever you want.

Step 6: Click Video and click Compression and click Configure and change it to this: Multipass - Nth pass Target bitrate (kbit/s) 1000 and click Ok Click File and click Save As and replace it with the first one.

Step 7: Click Video and click Compression and click Configure and change it to this: Single pass - lossless and click Rate Control and change it to this: Scene-cut Min IDR-frame interval 1 Max IDR-frame interval 1 and click Ok Click File and click Save As and replace it with the first one.

Step 8: Your Done! All you have to do is upload the video to YouTube. I think that 98.9% of videos using this method will get the "High Quality" Option.

  • i see you have uploaded more than 10 mins, i thought utube only allowed 10, ok thats cool :)

    but if i upload a vid under 10 min, how do you ensure utube will automaticly give the HQ optoin, i mean this video doesnt have it,

    some of my vids have hq optoin, some dont, even tho i uesd thesame settings,

    i dont get it :(

  • you must past &fmt=18 behind the youtube url youre watching. and refresh the page. under the video will come to stand that youre watching it in HQ

  • look at some of my videos you can upload 10:59 min max on youtube.

    But when i upload a video that has time play from 10:54 it always plays in hq on my acount :D hope that helps

    utube only lets you upload a 10 min vid max, you cant upload anything that is longer than 10 minutes

    videos that have low kwalitie just ad to the url &fmt=18 and it will play in HQ

  • i use sony vegas pro, with settings on720 by 480,adio on 128 kbs, frame rate 30,000,

    but sometimes utube give the high quality optoin,sometimes it dont,

    using excact settings on the same video,sometimes it works sometimes it dont

    i say the independent vairable is utube, if anyone knows different please let me know
