I put my English lab Lucky down a month ago at thirteen. His hips gave out and I could not watch him suffer. Lucky was a rescue and a true water dog. Obsessed with chasing a ball is an understatment. A large void still rests in my heart but we shall meet again at the Rainbow Bridge someday and walk side by side for eternity.

I had an American black lab. He was really tall and thin. He died on September 10, 2011:(

what's the name of your lab?
-
@jacobsladder78 you got it backwards.
-
I thought the american lab is bigger of the two breeds< english labs are smaller

@blacklabradorlover1 It is REALLY hard to lose them! Yeah I would love to have Coop forever. I would never would want him to die.Right now I have a black lab puppy, but its hard cause he isn't like Coop at all, and I wish he was.
I thought the american labs had a bigger build and block head< the english are the smaller of the two breeds

@jacobsladder78 Hi, yes that is generally true. The english style is alot stalkier and soild, whereas the american is generally taller and thinner.

I think your dog has a breathing problem. OR you should just give him some water!!!!

@Omega22AlphaZ He did have a respiratory issue, although it didn't seem to affect his drive or energy at all. It only happened towards the end of his life... sometime after he was 12.

@blacklabradorlover1 I am very sorry for you loss, my black lab Coop died on October 22, 2010 cause he had kidney failure. He was totally obsessed with fetch! I rescued him from a shelter and he 6 years old. I sure do miss him!! He died when he was 7 years old, only a month after his birthday!

@Omega22AlphaZ thank you so much. I really appreciate it. So sorry to hear about your loss too. It sure is painful to lose them...if only they could live longer, huh?
