i just spent over 10 hours moving chickens from a dark barn at 0-dark stupid at night to an egg laying "facility" it was not fun for me or the chickens when i took the job i had no idea what i was in for and i must say its the last time i ever do it.

While the conditions are deplorable (hens need 4 sq ft to roam), your facts are incorrect. You said, "Each hen lays around 6 eggs a week per hen - in a nature, though, you would be lucky to get more than dozen eggs a year." This isn't true. Hens average 180-300 eggs/year or 6 eggs a week. This is true for both factory hens like these and the hens that I am raising in my backyard. I have heard that some factories simulate daylight and night to get hens to lay up to 3 times a day.
