Here is what did it for me. Watch video of the north tower collapse. Note how far from the base of the tower those steel beams land. If you know any highschool physics you will calculate that those steel beams weighing thousands of pounds had an initial horizontal velocity component of 55 to 60 mph. Then ask yourself this question: what can instantly accelerate steel beams weighing thousands of pounds horizontally.

Hint: its not gravity.

Canned foods stay good longer, but once it's opened and exposed to the atmosphere the metal can will breed bacteria if you're not careful.

One thing you should consider for your BOB are water purification drops or tablets. That way stocking water won't be an issue so much as finding water to prep for drinking.
