The Fort Lauderdale Strikers were featured on the show FIFA Futbol Mundial. Strikers president Tim Robbie, former Strikers great Nene Cubillas, and US Soccer Hall of Famer Fernando Clavijo speak about the new Strikers present and bright future in South Florida.
I understand where Tim Robbie is coming from, but I don't see there ever being two D1 leagues. Not sure if FIFA regulation would allow it. NASL would serve better as a supplement to MLS. Obviously, I can't predict the state of the game in the future but I can foresee NASL emulating the quality and profitability of MLS but honor its D2 role. FIFA would like for top-flight leagues in every country to cap at 20 teams but with minor league soccer I can see NASL getting away with twice that many.
