One of my friend has dropped off her hamster
( female Roborovski, 10 months ) at my house for the holidays. Her mum gave permission to join my hamster ( male Campbell, 9 months ) and her hamster together. We all have read warnings , and heard this may be fatal, as they are both different breeds, but I read on a trustworthy website where these two breeds lived in peace together, even when they were introduced to each other at the age of 7 months. We are taking quiet a risk, so please do not try this at home. These two pairs are staying under supervision 24 hr. from when they first met, and will leave them by themselves when appropriate. For this we used 2 small cages , identical to each other, and joined them together. One of them has lived in it for a short period, and the other has been introduced to it's new home today ( the one on the left ). Please note : no rodent was harmed during the making of this video. Thank you for your attention, and observe two different natures uniting as one. Kind Regards, Hamster Owner.
What happened after:
The male walked into her cage, exploring it, maybe even eating some of her food. During this period, she would hide in her bed, without moving a whisker. After a couple of visits, he climbed into her wheel and had a ride! The female got peculiar on what was happening, so she went out from her hiding place and inside the wheel. Neither of them reacted, and both of them ran opposite ways. The female got out of the wheel, then ran back in. This time, she stood still, and so did the male. This would be the worst place for them to fight, but the female thought differently. She attacked the male, leaving him on his back, and ran into her own bed once more.
After a couple of seconds, the male levitated himself back to his feet, and toddled back to his own home. The answer now was obvious, that the two could not live together.

  • interesting.. though, did it work? i'm planning to have my robos and camps housed together too, but NEVER in mixed sex groups. please tell me how they are now! i've heard stories of them living peacefully in the same cage. also, you said you let a female robo live with a male camp, did you end up with hybrid pups? i'm curious as to what happened after this vid.

  • @musicvideoz08 did your robo-camp setup ever produce any hybrid pups after that? i know it's not genetically possible but i'm still curious cause, you know, weird things happen. ive only tried housing a male robo and male campbell together a loong time ago. i picked the nicest and most submissive males in my stock for this experiment and it went fine for like a day, no squabbles, but i had to separate them for breeding purposes. after awhile i tried to reintroduce them but they started fighting.

  • @NoteStalker

honestly iht depends on the hamster becuzz i have 3 robos and one campbelland thecampbell houses with two of the robos and there started the mating process so ih really depend on the hamster
