@phaedruslive (Cont) I understand the fatalism in his argument because I am likewise inflicted but I dont profess to share any of his theological views. One could also argue the indispensible need for death to bring meaning to a finite life (mortality is central to beauty, rarity and so on. Or perhaps the tool to book-end what at least seems like a finite life, depending on ones point of view)

@longtail4711 To be fair, not all people have desires that can be met in reality. I for one, would have liked to be born in a period where strength and honor determined my worth. A place where I could have died bravely and known folks would sing songs about my deeds long after I'd gone. Nowhere in the modern world can I fulfill that desire. Somebody could also want for a far more esoteric existence. Something they couldn't have, but we have only an indirect relationship with our desires.

I would not chose to die, but yes, If I were to die right now and could do nothing about it, I would smile and let it come.

And Christians wonder why I don't find their religion appealing or want to join it. "There is no point to life, and you just need to be good and suffer through it as a sycophant to a sadistic god until you die, and then MAYBE you can have a good afterlife." Ugh, that's horrible! If you have to ask an atheist, "Why bother living?" Then something is SERIOUSLY wrong with how you are living.

The theists argument is nothing more that sucking up. Be brown nosing yes man and the universe is yers, along with virgins, or not depending on yer faith. religion is a fucking joke.

@didjargo Hell, by that logic, God would reward you for sending all his children to heaven.

typical greedy theist who believes the miracle of life isn't enough unless he has it forever, and not only that, in a state of pleasure. and if that isnt reality then being alive is meaningless. selfish, greedy and ungrateful to be alive

@WeGameAlotSir Empathy and intelligence is closely connected.
This caller exhibits an absence of both.
His limited deductive ability and lack of emotional control impair him severely.
His argument is dictated by his deceptive assumption of an old book, without any of the context material or cultural awareness needed to decipher it somewhat correctly.
But I doubt that matters to him, he doesn’t seem to understand either side of the equation. He's probably just starved for attention.

I don't understand why religious folks want an afterlife so bad. Sure, Heaven can be fun for a while, but even that might get boring after 3 million years or so. Personally, I prefer to burn in Hell with all the cool people, rather than sharing Heaven with these self-righteous religious retards.
By this caller's logic, I should go around killing Christians. I'd be doing them a favor, right? I mean, they'd get to go to heaven and be blissful for all eternity. In fact, that sounds like a pretty noble sacrifice on my part. Go to jail for the rest of my life then spend eternity burning in hell just so that I can ensure that good Christians get to go to heaven.
