I drive an '06 E-250 with the 4.10gears and 4.6L 2V engine. It's a nice combo for everyday use and can handle 2000lbs of weight easily. Ford is good with getting gear ratios properly spaced. With the stock (30") tires it turns a touch under 2000rpm @60mph. One thing however, is that even moderate hills will bring a downshift to third, loaded or not. Good cruising speed with this van is 72mph (115km/h), that way it shouldn't have to downshift at all as it's turning nearly 2400rpm.
