Today I have a quick look at the BlueAnt S1, which is a very popular handsfree car kit right now. With the laws changing here in Vancouver about driving with a cell phone, these are becoming very popular very fast.

  • They "allow" you, that is where I have a problem. I keep my ringer off and only use the celly once a year in the car, if that. I can drive with my knee. My relative is paralysed and has to use one hand for acceleration & brakes, leaving only one hand to steer. I also only use one hand (left hand) for steering. People with manual transmissions only use one hand. I can't stand it when I get behind someone who is using a mobile or talking to their passenger. Keep your eyes on the road ppl.

  • Not the same. A physical phone occupies one of your hands, while a conversation with a passenger does not.

That's why they are still allowing bluetooth handsfrees to be used. Because they are (in theory) the same as having a conversation with a passenger.

  • @De4dSpace ban on phones, cause there are people who focus more on thier texting than their driving = Smashed their car into yours!

  • Linus if the car is 20m then you have a problem, becouse even is its 10 you can have the device in the middle and it would work just fine :P

  • Texting/talking on the phone when driving is the number 1 cause of distracted driving which results in over 100 deaths every year.

Sure, you can call it a ban, but have you ever sped faster than the legal regulations?

  • ok fine, in three years time I'll find this nice to use :P

  • we should just drive cars without electrical starts or any other electronics for that matter and tape a big EMP on it lol:D

  • Having a conversation with a passenger could distract a driver as much as a phone, ban 'em!

  • Do you not realise how dangerous using your phone while driving actually is?

  • A ban on phones while driving? Did they ban smoking in your vehicle too? Why not ban the radio while they're at it?
