So how do "society's owners" (?) get away with everything? Simple. Because in an OLIGARCHY, the FEW RULE while the MANY BEG for favors. DEMOCRACY, the only real alternative to oligarchy, could begin if the people recognize that WE, BOTH INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY, ARE the LEGIT POWER in this world and START ACTING LIKE IT. But if a majority of the People cannot or will not see this truth, then we are forever slaves to the OLIGARCHY. In my humble opinion, that's our only choice. : ) > -

yup, pretty well sums it up. Thanks for the hurricane of well placed emotions, which most of us only let rip during football season. What I see is that those whom CAN still pay attention are overwhelmed and therefore decide to STOP paying attention (enter 'call of duty', Farmville, alchohol, etc.). They've run the algorhythems already, which is how we GOT 'Farmville" and Facebook in the first place. Anyway, thanks for the rant, for once it's outside of my own head.
