A great sword fighting demonstartion and explanation.this sword fighting video was taken from a seminar with Daniel Verkere and his assistant Kapley Judge at the Seicho Jutsu Institute in Cambridge, Ontario Canada.
it's called a buckler... its an aggressive shield u actually punch the incoming sword... but yes bucklers are small compared to the medieval heater or the roman tower shields
Holy! I never saw this video before Sir! Awesome technique and expanation of how you are doing it all so 'seemingly' effortlessly! (However, you always make everything LOOK so damn easy (LOL) but you taught us that it takes a lot of training to even get the basics done right. But when you MASTER the basics - you have what you need to evolve & develop your own movement!
in 14th century europe the small bucker was use almost as a fire blanket smoothering the attackers sword hand.Actually smashing the sword hand or face
Also they seemed to use the sword and bucker almost as one
actually what he showing seems very simular to what I was taught with european sword and buckler

maybe. but not the shield itself makes of you a good fighter, but using a shield with dexterity, makes it worth carrying.
