@TruthSeekingElf Plus, CFL Light bulbs let off such an ugly, dismal, bland and ugly glow. Do LED's have the same effect? Yet what I'm really worried about is if i'm getting any mercury exposure from my LCD HDTV and LCD computer monitor as they both contain CFL back lights. Wouldn't they have to be broken to be exposed to the mercury? As for light bulbs, it's either Incandescent or LED for me.

@fiesta1117cc yeah i've been to homes where ppl have incandescents and cfls and its not a nice combo. I've tried out a few cfls b4 in 1 room and to me, their light quality is very ugly and gloomy. makes me feel like im back in my office. i have nothing against flourecent lighting. im talking about the old skool tubes and circular versions. what can i tell u, i have always loved my edison bulbs and they look nice. sure, they cost me more to have them on but to me, they're worth it.

@noreaga12326 The problem is if you light up your room using a mixture of cfl’s & incandescent ones they make the cfl’s look slightly pink when they are switch on Unfortunately the cfl’s tends to lack the yellow side of the spectrum & the only way to achieve this is to place them in a pale yellow lamp shade to counteract the lost yellow spectrum alternatively you can use pale yellow colour gels although be careful not to place it too close or the gels will melt & they are quite expensive too

@fiesta1117cc i would also like to point out that, YES, they've been TRYING to make cfls as the same color as incandescents. No matter how hard they try, you will NEVER get the same warm lighting from cfls that u get from edison bulbs. Edison bulbs have much better light quality and to me, its worth paying a bit more to have BETTER QUALITY lighting. There are ppl who can afford to pay extra to have nice, warm lighting. Its not the governments place to decide how much energy i can "Waste.

@fiesta1117cc What ur basically saying here is that CFLs good and are getting better. If CFLs were that superior, government would let consumers make that choice for themselves, instead of FORCING people to use them. u say "Those lamps will reduce my electric bill" 1st off, these cfls take a while to warm up. By waiting for them to warm up, ur already wasting energy. Plus when u consider that u have other electrical things in ur house, ur not saving much. This "going green" mess is BS buddy

@noreaga12326 The CFL’s are the same as the big old T12 fluorescent tubes both are gas discharge lamps using mercury vapour to emit light & the phosphors coating converts UV light emitted from the mercury vapour into white light
Those lamps will reduce your electric bills
Now you can purchase CFL’S which almost give out the same colour light as incandescent ones ie deluxe Warm White 27`k which is in past had a tendency to emit a slightly pinkie light nowadays they’ve overcome that
General Electric is the largest producer of these CFL light bulbs in the world. They are produced very in only China. GE has a very strong lobby in Washington which may ( you can bet on it ) have caused this to become law. GE invested in the future by using payola to pass this law.
Everyone who has used these bulb knows that they do not light a room anywhere near as efficiently as an incandescent bulb.
This bill has nothing to do with energy, it has to do with payola & big company profits.
