Sk Hinge Sounds On Audacity

This is a basic tutorial on how to make hinge sounds for Sidekicks with Audacity, the process is the same in other programs, I have another tutorial on how to do it with Adobe Audition but decided to do it for Audacity too since Audacity is a Free Program.

Please notice it is very important that you verify that the final file size for your hinges is less than 100kb, anything bigger than that will not work. In this video I used the MP3 format because MP3 compression allows you to make longer sounds with a smaller file size, and I find that the 56 Kbps format sounds really good on the sidekick but the sidekick is NOT limited to MP3 and other popular audio formats will work as long as the file size is less than 100kb.

You'll also need to add these two strings to your theme.txt file for the hinge sounds to work:

sound system-hinge-open-sound FILENAME.mp3
sound system-hinge-close-sound FILENAME.mp3

where does the themes folder come from ? i need help. :[

you need to make it:

right click on the root of your Sdcard (where the folder DCIM is) and select New > Folder and name it "Themes".

I cant figure out how to open the theme.txt. Help?

right click on the file then go to: Open With > Choose Default Program... then select Notepad or whatever other text editor you have on your computer.

Just follow the steps, if you didn't download the LameMp3encoder correctly you'll know because you wont be able to export as mp3.

obviously you need an SD card for this i have an 8 gb sandisk will it work for a sidekick lx 09? i have all the things ready theme hinges ,even a skin form skin it, (highly anticipating this soo yea kinda wondering

i dont get this! i did everything right, the name the text that you put in the description, but the hinges wont play. evrything else is fine its just the hinges that mess up my whole theme i made!

okay its in my themes but it doesnt play
