This is part one of our successful Tracking the Hurricanes: 2008 documentary. It chronicles the tumultuous 2008 hurricane season that included deadly and devastating hurricane Ike. Many Americans have no idea of how bad the 2008 hurricane season was due to other distractions, including the meltdown of the U.S. economy and the Presidential election. In part one, we examine tropical storm Cristobal along the NC Outer Banks, tropical storm Fay in Florida and hurricane Gustav in Louisiana. Part two will pick up with tropical storm Hanna and an incredible segment that covers hurricane Ike in Texas. Speaking of Ike, how is the cleanup going in the Bolivar Peninsula?

I live in Maryland and I was 12 when Isabel hit. I thought it was the scariest thing ever.

No, Galveston is doing very well. Texans took it upon themselves to get things going in spite of the poor conditions in the economy and the "put on the back burner" aspect of Ike in the mainstream media. Politics and the economy took over as top stories really quick in the wake of this hurricane. As for Macon? Thanks for the suggestion but Wilmington will suffice for now- good starting point for hurricanes! And as for Ford- love my Tahoe way too much- has never let me down. Thanks for watching!
