VERY VERY HAPPY DIWALI TO ALL MY HINDU BROTHERS AND SISTERS. A marvelous composition by the legend Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, lyrics penned down by Gulzar Ji and the beautiful voice rendered by sarswati Lata Mangeshkar ji, to create this beautiful devotional song about Sita requesting Ram to accompany him during exile, for movie Ek Pal. Lata ji sounds so amazing in Bhupen ji compositions like Rudaali, it can not be described in words. The nuances are revealed and overwhelms the listener as he discovers the sweetness only by listening over and over again !

Dr. Bhupen Hazarika was born on September 8, 1926 in Sadiya, Assam. A child prodigy, he wrote and sang his first song at the age of 10 and worked for the second Assamese talkie, Indramalati, in 1939, when he was 12 years old.

He completed his Intermediate Arts from Cotton College in 1942, and went on to Banaras Hindu University to complete his B.A. in 1944 and his M.A. in Political Science in 1946. He earned a Ph.D. from Columbia University, New York, USA in 1954.
He was great a composer for his use of folk music with a touch of the contemporary, a singer with a unique voice (Ganga tu Behti ho Kyun) was a complete institution.

In 1992, he was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for lifetime achievements in cinema.
He also got best music director at national level for Chameli Memsaab in 1975.
The legendary figure of the Assamese and Indian Music Dr. Bhupen Hazarika expired in the evening of 5th November, 2011 at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai.
