@qwerty12145 You don't need them for the D&D RPG. It's just handy to have them around for quick play. You don't even have to use those exact stats. For example, a goblin figure could represent any number of different types of goblins with different stats you can find in the Monster Manuals.

can someone explain. are these for the expansions or can they be used in normal games. is this for 4th edition

@lukedoherty9494 This particular set can be used with the D&D Miniatures skirmish game, or they can be used in the D&D RPG. The cards have stats for both. Newer sets, only have stat cards for the RPG.

I will. The problem is WOTC has cancelled their spring release of miniatures, because they are reformatting the boxes back to blind box. So, no longer will you be able to see what the large or huge miniature is :(. It will all be random. So, anyways the next expansion is now scheduled for August :(.
