  • I love how I don't necessarily understand his verbal instructions, but his and his pupil's actions explain it all.

  • @stupidichigo99 no,becuase your like that for a fraction of a second. the way its angled with the downward force of the deflect wont make you drop it.

  • 1:42

Wouldn't you lose your grip of the sword in a real fight, holding it like that?

  • as in 1:55, in real speed, the sword is quickly risen and slightly rotated so the impact point will be on the "shinogi" of the katana.

  • @ContradictoryNature actually when deflecting blows, we use the side of the sword, and the angle is quite sharp so the impact taken both to the sword and the wielder is minimized. Of course sharp edges never be used to block attacks, otherwise the sword may be cracked or broken.

  • I'd like to ask a question, does the style have anything to say about the issue of blocking sword blows with the sharp of the blade? Wouldn't that damage the cutting edge, or is the angle of deflection enough to allow the opponent's blade to glide off without damaging the sharp?

  • Great technique. Thank you.
