SnowboardAddiction.com presents part 1 of the Advanced Spinning lesson.
This vid is designed for you riders who want to learn 3's, 5's, 7's and beyond.
It outlines the first 2 key aspects which relate to all spins:
1) Creating a platform/edge to spin from
and
2) The relevance of a setup point.
This is the version for regular footed riders.

  • Hey, so i kind of have the same problem as danman789, with the spin going kind of corked, but i also have a problem with a take off. I used to be able to 3 most of the time, but recently ive been kind of catching an edge or going super off balanced in mid air and landing right on my chest or back, for backside spins. Maybe its cause the jumps at the mountain are terrible, theyre like a quarter pipe and are never groomed....

  • @Dankuccino Practice your set up carve to make sure you leave the lip in a straight line. This is even more important on a kicky jump as there is less margin for error. If you don't leave the jump straight it is likely you will catch your edge or be forced to lean hard onto you're toes (on a backside spin) and this will put you off axis. Hope that helps!

  • did you just mirror this from the other video?

  • @TheFunnycowpie You caught us. It's alot easier to keep both our regular and goofy customers happy this way as opposed to filming, editing, compressing and uploading every video twice!

  • When ever i try to 3, my board goes parrallel with the ground lik you would for a cork 3, an even if i do stay flat throughout the spin, i always land tail heavy. Also for 360 off sidehits, i always revert when i land even if i stomp it down on a edge

  • @danman789 People commonly land backseat on FS 360's because they open up their front shoulder as they throw the spin and it pulls their weight back off the jump. Correct this by thinking about using the energy of your back hand coming forward to initiate your spin. This will keep your shoulders parallel to the horizon and your spin flat. To avoid reverting, look back up the slope at where you took off until you're back in control. This is called a blind landing.

  • what you mean by dont pre spin? when you do your back 5s and 7s it looks like you have already realeased your windup and rotated your shoulders almost 180 as you leave the lip

  • @palecz cause nobody has explained it so simply and understandable before

  • you guys are great teachers!!! respect and thanx

  • What if its a little jump? Should you still do what you do on a bigger jump or just go straight off it?

  • i love how he is like 3,5,7 and beyond

  • awesome video! im going to whitefish, Montana in a few days and hopefully i can pull off a good 360 there.. thanks!

  • @whydoesthismattr they determine this by the direction your body is facing in the first 90 of the spin.

Frontside is when your facing downhill on the first 90/facing forwards.

Backside-facing uphill in first 90 of the spin, or are backwards in the first 90.

Switch Frontside/Cab-facing forwards in the first 90 of a switch spin.

    Switch Backside-Facing backwards/uphill in the first 90.

  • @snowboardaddiction okk thanks!
