Calvin said we need "double knowledge": knowledge of God AND knowledge of self. If just Theology we become very superficial, elitist and don't develop the character that CJ Mahaney himself says he seems to lack in comparison to those he critiques.... On the other hand, if all we have is psychology we become narcissistic and self absorbed. To state the obvious, "ALL truth is God's truth." I pray that people don't use their theology as a defense into probing their own heart.

However, as others here have said, on Larry Crabb, CJ is simply wrong. There is no other way to say it. And Dr. Minrith calls it "love tanks" not "love cups" as CJ says. The fact that he got a lot of laughs out of this is telling. The fact the none of the men he speaks of have ever responded publicly to him tells me that maybe CJ is right - their character is better than his....

A woman that believes that some are predestined to go to hell and some to go to heaven came to one of our pastors. Then later she asked the pastor to pray for her daughter because she isn't saved! What good will praying do for her if God didn't predestine her anyway; and if she IS predestined, she will be saved regardless if someone prays or not. You can't have it both ways! Hyper-calvinism is CONVOLUTED TO THE MAX!

If hyper-calvinists are right, then WHY EVEN ARGUE THE POINT??? All will be saved anyway that are predestined, and all who aren't predestined will not. How is this Good News??? And if only God chooses, then who can know if they are saved or not until they get to heaven??? There is no need to persuade the unbeliever that he is going to hell, because if he is not predestined, what can he do about it anyway??? If he IS predestined, then h will be saved either way and he cannot be lost!

Election deals with God electing to save only by GRACE. You shouldn't have wasted so many brain cells in trying to accept hyper-calviism! No one comes to such conclusions from reading the Bible, ONLY is this heretical doctrine believed when taught it by a wolf in sheep's clothing. Wake up and realize that "God would have ALL men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."!

Why use the term predestine??? Simple. God predestined the PLAN that men would be saved, NOT by earning it, but by BELIEVING that Christ paid the price for all. The Jew would reply AGAINST such a plan since he goes about trying to earn his way into heaven. If God chooses to save the wickedest of men by the plan of GRACE rather than works, let the law-keepers reply and protest all they want! He will not choose a different course than MERCY no matter how many harden their hearts because of it.

@Eromhsa1 Then why even use the word predestine? Seems silly to me. Plus, if that's the case, why did Paul expect such an outrage and denial of God's justice by the heathen in Romans 9? If your interpretation was correct, there would be no "then why does God find fault, for who can resist His will."

@Eromhsa1 You obviously don't understand the doctrines of Grace. Trust me, I know that it is a hard truth to swallow. It took me forever to believe as well, but when you do it is so freeing and beautiful. Can I suggest a book that will possibly explain to you how God choosing is actually loving and Biblical? I suggest you read R.C. Sproul's book Chosen by God, and also read Mark Driscoll's book Religion Saves, specifically the chapter on Predestination. I know it is hard, but it is God's truth.

God predestined that ALL who choose to BELIEVE the Gospel will be saved, and that ALL who choose to reject it will be damned. He DID NOT predestine who will believe or reject!
