Seems this combination is played too often ;-) Here's most of the Excelsior Brigade at the reenactment at the Hamlin Beach State Park, 2006, playing in a circle near the Union Camp. See Sgt Whiting choke on Battle Hymn.

  • football fightsong?

  • The flute player (the tallest of the two)might not be the best flute player, but despite that, it is still a good general performance. The music they start to play at the 44th second, is it the same tune as the song sung by the parachutists of the Easy company, in Band of Brothers, when they enter Austria on their trucks ?

  • what makes the taller bloke not as good as the bearded fellow? (he isn't as good ;-) , but just asking what in the video gives it away)

  • worst one yet. keep practicing,Please.

GOD SAVE THE SOUTH! Hell Yea! South's Going to Rise Again! Most Inportant, May, GOD BLESS AMERICAN and ALLIED TROOPS!

  • rebelstang, we play Confederate music too BTW, if you have the skills, let's see video of you playing something distinctly Southern. We may be marching in Remembrance Day this year as Cornfed field musicians.

  • @Briselance The second tune the corps plays is "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," but, yes, the Airborne adapted it for their own nefarious purposes.

(Sorry, I just like the word "nefarious.")

  • @excelsiorbrigade

Rather Military Song I would say =)

  • this song I hear was from the 24 th MA? they sang this when marching into battle. each state had its own song.

  • Fredricksburg. Vicksburg. Gettysburg. Shilo....the men who marched to those battles probably heard this song...it's awesome.

  • civil war reenacting is like video games come alive, except theres no noobs running out by themselves

  • im part of a school reenactment group and we have the same snare drum but it doesnt make the snare soud can you help me fix that

  • Real drums YEAH

  • Ah I see.

  • As a former Infantry and later Cavalry Officer I can say that the drums are supposed to be too loud. Remember that when troops march, the drums keep cadence so all troops march to the same beat, "Left, Right, Left Right", all that stuff. That's why the marching songs when no drums are present on the march.
